Who We are

Friends of Camp Louise is a registered 501(c)(3) organization responsible for the restoration, maintenance, and operation of Camp Louise Center for Outdoor Recreation and Education (Camp Louise C.O.R.E.).

Camp Louise C.O.R.E. is located on Jonestown Mountain approximately five miles north of Berwick, PA in Briar Creek Township. It is a 177-acre camp with a 25-acre lake.

MISSION STATEMENT

Preserving Camp Louise for future generations to foster an interest in the environment and the pursuit of healthy outdoor educational activities.

Vision Statement

Camp Louise will provide a safe and fun environment in which campers and patrons can explore new, challenging environmental and educational experiences and have the opportunity to build skills for life.

Camp Louise Through The Years

Camp Louise was founded in 1959 from land donated by the Mitrani family to Bloomsburg Girl Scouts.

In 1970, it became the resident camp for Penns Woods Girl Scout Council.

In 2006, Girl Scouts of the USA consolidated area councils forming Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA. Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA utilized Camp Louise through 2016 when camp was abruptly closed.

In 2018, Camp Louise was put up for sale. In 2019, it was purchased by Valley Preservation LLC who leases camp to Friends of Camp Louise. Friends of Camp Louise immediately started the big task of rehabilitating camp.

In 2021, in keeping with our mission of offering the public a place to enjoy and learn about nature in a beautiful, natural area, the name of camp was changed to Camp Louise Center for Outdoor Recreation and Education (Camp Louise C.O.R.E.). This same year, camp was opened for group rentals.
